In WW-II, they didn't use the social security numbers yet, but if you have his name, date of birth and which branch he served in, you may be able to get his records and find out more.(the NARA site has notes on what you need, but if you give them all information you have, they can probably look more places, than with just basic info) Another way is to go to the historical society of the state Emil is buried in and see if they have a veteran grave registration. From that, you can find out exactly which unit he served in (most of the time), his service number, and who were part of his family at the time of his death...... which would give you more information to give NARA :-)
And it doesn't matter how bad a picture is (although I've seen A LOT worse ones) it's good to have a face with the name, and this page is a really nice tribute!
Thanks for sharing!

Oh thank you for this info. What is the NARA site? I just have to go there to find out this info on my uncle & my dad!!!!! And veteran grave registration- I didn't even know there was this info.Geneology can be very exciting.
Also I made this page using Traci's kit cause it was fun papers & elements but I think a formal heritage kit is also called for to honor this precious photo.

I'm wondeing if there has been a change in how the gallery works? When I try to see the all Lo's for point in time the gallery takes me back to the main gallery most recent lo's or my own albums pages. I can only view the one with links in this thread.
