As the youngest of twelve children, these three were known as the three little boys as long as even one of their big sisters survived. Since their father died suddenly only a few months before Black October and the start of the Great Depression, those big sisters had spent a lot of their time helping care for their younger siblings. There was no help in those days for young widows with twelve children to raise, except that supplied by friends and family. That help and their own hard work, along with the love of a determined woman, saw the family through.
