In my Great grandpa's own words:
In 1927, we bought our first
car, an old 1919 Model-T
Ford. We paid $30.00 for it.
We sure did enjoy that old
wreck.
We even went to Yellowstone
Park and back over the Teton
Pass, which was really
dangerous at that time.
We had our mattress and all
our equipment tied on, all
open and no protection from
the weather, but it was fun.
Now days we wouldn’t dare
start a trip like that.
