Fourteen-year-old me and some of my faves then that I still love now!
Journaling reads:
I was 14 years old the first time I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. It’s one of my favorite books and I own it in English and French.
That wonderful story about being an individual and pursuing your own dreams, even if they are against the norm, was so fitting for me as a teenager. Mom encouraged me to read the book at a time when I was teetering between individuality and conformity. Sometimes being an awesome parent is just pointing your kid in the right direction to discover the right answers “for themself.” Her gift that time was the better answer and a book I’d read again and again for life!
I’d practically grown up with the Neil Diamond’s music from the movie soundtrack. It has always been and will likely always be music that lights up and empowers my soul. When I finally saw the movie, it gave me that same feeling of freedom, a reinforcement of my spiritual belief that God has instilled in me everything I need to succeed, I need only have faith in myself to bring it out.
