Ik hou van Holland

Ik hou van Holland

newsletter challenge patriotic pride

I love Holland:

the Royal Family, the Dutch national Football team, the way we, down-to-earth, no-nonsense Dutch, go all crazy over football, speed skating and the Elfstedentocht, a 200 km skating marathon on natural ice along 11 towns in Friesland.

When the ice master says 'it giet oan' (Frisian: it is going to happen), the entire country goes completely bonkers.....

It looks like you've designed a travel brochure for your country; this is so interesting! Thanks for sharing a bit of your culture with the rest of us!

This brings back memories of the last 11 stedentocht. When I type this I am watch the dutch soccer team playing against italie for the european championship. I know that the neighbours will go bongers as the dutch score.
