Remembering Baggle

This is the memory page for Baggle, our oldest cat who passed last month at 15 years old.

Journaling:

Baggle had been losing weight again. The once hefty king of our castle had dwindled to the smallest of the three. X-rays at the vet showed an irregular shape to his heart and digestive issues that gave him pain. Fixing the constipation would be even more painful and he might not have had the strength to have it done. We had to face what we knew one of the many trips to the vet with Baggle lately would be: the last trip with him and a return home with his carrier empty.

Wednesday there were no whiskers tickling us awake and no desperate eyes looking up and begging for breakfast. There are no wet paws from having put his feet in his water before drinking it leaving prints on Mom’s knee and no cat sprawled across Dad’s mouse on the couch. No single jingle sounds from a ball batted once by the inner kitten of a senior cat and no audience dizzily watching as Kaline and Carla chase up the stairs and back.

Kaline and Carla took turns having a thorough sniff at the carrier when it came home. Maybe they knew he wasn’t doing well. Maybe that was communicated in an instinctual way that cats understand but humans don’t.

It’s going to be a little emptier for a while, but we’ll always remember and treasure the years we had with our Baggle-Buddy.

The loving memories of Baggle will live on. He is survived by his sisters, Alexis Kaline and Carla Yastrzemski and three loving parents, his first Mom, Vanessa, Dad, David and his second Mom, Davonna. Baggle will
