We started apple picking in 1995 when you were barely a year old. It became an annual tradition and we still pick apples, peaches, something, when we are together at picking time. You learned early how to eat and pick and at the end of an outing you’d picked more than you could carry and eaten quite a few too!

We went with Grams and Papa on the weekends and often friends went with us or Grammy and even your Dad a few times. We usually ended up at different orchards on fall festival weekends. You loved the petting farm areas, pony rides and arts and crafts as much as you did the wagon rides and the picking.

After one of our apple outings, I used Grams’ dehydrator and made apple chips. You guys ate them like they were candy! The cool thing was I had no guilt in letting you do it! The only drawback was you ate them way quicker than I could make them! Apple picking became the quest for the perfect apple chip apples.
