Quiet down cobwebs,
Dust go to sleep.
Iím rocking my babies,
And babies donít keep.
As a young mom with three small kids, I always took comfort in that little poem. I was always behind. Laundry had to be taken to the laundromat because I didnít have a washer and dryer. The sink was never empty of dirty dishes and who could even begin to get to the yard work? And then I had to go back to work, which seemed to make things
so much harder. Eventually the kids were all in school and I got more balance in my life. But for a few years, that trite little poem gave me permission to play with my kids while they still wanted me in their lives and to let the business of the house take second place. How I wish I could have been better at doing it ALL, but I wasnít and Iíve learned to
let go of it. My kids always had the BEST birthday parties ever, they got to go on some awesome road trips with me for one job, and somehow we muddled through the best we could. Some moms find that little poem insulting, thinking it means if your house is clean you are neglecting your family. Iím not one of them. So, thanks to whoever coined it!

Haha, I got myself a cleaning lady right after David was born and I don't regret for a second!! My time is so much more precious than to be spent on cleaning - and note that I only have one kid ;-))
