I wrote a little faux-news story to explain where this kit came from, but it was too long and broke the preview. So it's in the first comment. Small towns are *totally* inspiring.

Lots of people live in my head. It comes from growing up in a *really* small midwest town, where these great little festivals (and crazy happenings) aren't all that uncommon. But we do have some awesome apple pie recipes, boyhowdy.

I started out making a mini for this, and it sort of...grew. In this kit are 27 papers, a full hand-drawn alpha, two quickpages (couldn't decide which I liked better, and they kind of go together...), and two dozen elements including:
* a hand-drawn crown and beauty queen sash
* an apple pie
* three apple monogram stickers
* an apple blossom
* a pie, because HELLO, *PIE*.
* a cut green apple
* an apple tree and small red apple for filling it up
* a small journal card and a frame
* really messy stitching
* a contestant's bouquet and a loose flower from the scuffle
* a circle frame, and 3 circle ornaments
* apple parenthesis
* a bow
* one bit of /"Apple of my Eye/" word art

Better, there's also a PDF/printable pie box so you can share the apple pie goodness with friends. Just print, cut, fold, glue, and fill with pie. Mmm. Pie.

PREVIEWS are HERE, of the box, both QP and the kit:

APPLE QUEEN CROWNED IN CONTROVERSIAL PAGEANT INCIDENT

by Josie O'Connell
Star-Gazette Staff Writer

WENATCHEE (REUTERS) -- For more than forty years, Wenatchee's annual Apple Festival has drawn people from all over the state to celebrate the town's official fruit. The Festival is a weekend-long revel through the apple orchards, with rides for the kids, live music by the Apple Barrellers, and more pie-eating contests than one would deem healthy.

This year, said Jerry Baxter, Wenatchee's 72-year-old Apple Mascot, the usual highlight of the Festival -- the Apple Queen annual pageant -- was a scene unseen in the four decades of its existence.

"It was mayhem," Baxter said, still nursing a few contusions from his fall, "The Apple Princesses were waiting to find out who was runner up, and I was just standing there in my apple costume like I do every year, ready to crown the new Queen, and apparently, they just weren't too keen on having Mary Alice win."

Mary Alice Simpson, 18, was barely crowned before the second runner up, Tiffany Johnson, also 18, snatched the crown and ran. Observers say she was yelling incomprehensibly, but they think it had to do with her version of "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" being better than Simpson's. In the scuffle, Baxter was knocked from the stage, but luckily, the heavily-padded apple suit kept him from being seriously harmed.

A new crown has been issued to Simpson, who declined comment.

Oh, this is too funny! Is it ok to copy - paste your article to keep with the kit, or is it included?

Thanks, allergy_mom! You can totally copy-paste it if you'd like. If I'd been thinking, I'd have put it in the kit, but it was two a.m. when it uploaded. LOL!

ALSO! Note to everyone until I can get it figgered out:

The preview links are broken. They're right, but the vB is trying to parse the and-sign (ampersands). If you delete the part of the URL that comes up that says "amp;" (with the semicolon after it), leaving JUST the /&/ symbol, it goes right to the preview.

Go figure. Technology. Hrmf.

(edited to add: Or, duh. I could just give the link to the main album, right?

There we go. Will fix the post in a moment. :>)

Thanks, guys!

(And, uh, yeah. I'm kind of an overachiever. Also known as a Great Big Giant Nerd. The only reason I didn't put in the four (!!!) other QPs and the recipe card blanks/apple recipes is because I kind of thought people would be getting mighty sick of me and my crazyapples. LOL!)
