The story on the card tells you this recipe came from my Uncle Sam Smart (his real name) in 1960. I will also add that this same wonderful Uncle saved my life when I was just in the 3rd grade by chasing me down a hill as I ran in a burning long dress of my mothers. He caught me and reaped the dress off me burning his hands. I had 3rd degree burns on my legs; but I lived. When he passed away I put him in my plot next to my Dad so he would always have company. The recipe works as I have used it a long-long time. I hope you enjoy my small efforts. God Bless.

We used to use this method but recently I was told by a jeweler that with all the chemicals in toothpaste these days we should NOT use it. We have whiteners, sensitive stuff, enamel, etc.

She said that baking soda with a little water will do the trick nicely and not be harmful to the stones or finish on your ring.

Just thought I'd share!

Thanks for your pretty card. I guess the newer toothpastes might affect the jewelry, as Kathy mentions, so the wet baking soda will probably be good.
