Don't let the "green tomato" part throw you off. The flavor blends with the apples and raisins and you don't really taste the tomatoes, they are there mostly for texture, I think. This is a heritage recipe through my mother's line. I beleive the tomatoes were originally used to reduce the number of apples needed. Don't judge it based on previous experience with mincemeat either. It tastes nothing like the stuff you find in the store. This is really yummy!
