Celebration #2

2nd attempt for layout design challenge.

Celebrating birthdays was special to my grandmother and me, hers was Nov 30th and mine is Dec 11th and we usually have a family dinner/celebration together. Last year was a little different, they threw me a surprise birthday party --hence the black roses. We still also went out as a family to celebrate my grandmothers 89th birthday and mine in a smaller way. This was the last birthday celebration we would share together as she passed away this past April. She was a very important part of my life and I miss her very much.

Changes made:

Darkened journalling font

Made the drop shadows on the frame, purple paper, journaling block and flower bolder

Updated the drop shadow and played with beveling on the top two flowers, not sure why they now appear to be different colors, I did not alter that at all.

Added a light purple flower behind the flower in the bottom right hand corner.

Removed my Aunt from the picture and made the extraction of my grandmother larger and added a shadow to make the picture more of your focus.

Judge: Thanks for listing your changes, that makes it easier to give you some more tips. I like your extraction and I think you made the right decision to focus on you grantmother.

On my screen the top flowers didn't change color and look perfect to me.

The font is now easier to read as well. All the changes you made are a great improvement, well done.

I like to see more blur on the shadow of your grantmother (In PS filter| blur | gausian blur and play with the settings) in nature shadows are always a little blured

What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman. I love the extraction on her as being the focus.

Nice work. I agree with Astrid about blurring the shadow a little more.

JUDGE - oh NO!!! Where'd YOU go in the photo??!!! Your shadows are much better, but the one around your grandma should be blurred some - as if she's casting the shadow on the page.

Now this is just a suggestion because I hate that you've had to remove yourself from such a lovely heritage layout, you could change your title to a different font and make it straight across the page - then enlarge Grandma even more and there should be room for you to come back!! It's not a necessity for this challenge, just an idea like I said.
