This story is not my heritage, just my past, but maybe I can pass this tidbit of knowledge on to the future generations of our family. Or maybe I can at least let them now they aren’t the first!

Journaling reads:
I wish I’d taken more photos when I was a blonde. In my memory of what I saw in the mirror, it wasn’t that bad and all I have is one photo that isn’t flattering.

I was 18 and wanted to try something new, so I tried a spray-in product that turns your hair blonde. Okay, it was a harsh peroxide product that made my already permed hair frizzy and blonde, but it was the 80s and the frizziness only made it easier to make it BIG! I made my own clothes at the time and with the stylish big blonde hair, I looked good!

Anyway, I remember thinking I did.

My eyebrows made it look really fake. The most persistent guys that hit on me were those nerdy-guys who took a night away from Dungeons and Dragons to flirt with the “Heavy Metal Chicks” at the bar and one guy who was convinced I was a lady for hire. Even John and Scotty, my big brothers, told me they were glad It was only a couple years because it just wasn’t “me.”

Okay, so maybe going blonde wasn’t one of the best choices I’ve ever made, but making mistakes, and learning from them, is all part of growing up and finding your own style!
