Journaling: None of the Novice Men who medaled at this year’s Nationals have easy names to pronounce. Silver: Oleksiy Melnyk, 16 yrs.; Bronze: Nicholas Vrdoljak, 17 yrs.; Pewter: Daniel Samohin, 15 yrs.….but it’s the gold medal winner, just turned 13 yrs. old, who put the audience on notice that HIS was the name to remember. We kept calling him “Hiawatha!”. No – it’s HIWATASHI – Tomoki Hiwatashi!!!!
