Autumn Reflections by Skrapper Digitals and Helen Stemen
Journal:
They were both very young when I came into the world. Basically, they were still just kids ... fresh out of high school. Their youth was both a blessing and a curse. I enjoyed having parents that got down in the floor and played with me like kids ... playing with Lincoln Logs, wooden blocks, and Legos together. My knowledge of music from the 50's, 60's and the 70's is vast, because my parents were listening to the music all the time. The negative was having parents that initially didn't know what they were doing when it came to raising a child. The mixed messages of a playmate one minute and a stern disciplinarian the next was confusing. Looking back, I know they did the best they could. As their first-born child, I was sort of the practice kid. I give my parents, along with my maternal grandmother and my aunt Carole, tons of credit for making sure I was introduced to faith in the Lord. When I was a teenager, I accepted Christ into my heart and began my relationship with Him. This relationship continues to be the greatest blessing of my life. I don't have the opportunity to speak with either of my parents anymore. My sweet Mama passed away in January 2005 from cancer. The strain of grief was more than my father and I could stand ... and we parted ways. There are tons of details that go along with this that I could share, but I don't wish to rehash any of those memories. He has since remarried, and I believe he is happy and satisfied with his life. As I think back on my life, I am grateful that my parents guided me to Jesus and gave me the one thing I know I can depend on over all other things ... Him. My faith in the Lord is a direct Reflection of my Parents on my life ...

ooh wow! stunning job! Your journaling is so beautiful and heartfelt, exactly as it should be. I love how you used your parents photo as your reflection in the water! very cool! and thanks so much for listing my Grandmother, Helen Stemen in the credits too, she will certainly appreciate the nod :-) I'll have to phone her up to let her know to take a look at these layouts, she will really enjoy them :-)

Praise the Lord for this beautiful testament to your parents, grandmother and your Aunt Carol! A reflection on our faith is the deepest, most personal reflection of all! You've opened your heart and shared a sweet, amazing journey. Thank you for that.

Your layout is heart-warming, and striking. The layering of the papers, with a sweet little cluster in the corner is perfect. The photo with the reflection of your parents is simply stunning and incredibly creative. I love the gorgeous frame cluster with the butterflies fluttering. I am deeply amazed at your creative touch with Sherah's design (along with her grandmother). Your layout shines warmly in this gallery.

Gorgeous clustering. The image of your parents as a reflection is inspired! I feel your love for the Savior and your willingness to forgive your parents and adore them because of the atonement in your life. This is a very personal and powerful reflection. Thank you so much for sharing. Your layout is truly uplifting and praises God by its very nature.

This is amazing, the story and the layout. The clustering is so gorgeous, I envy those who can cluster. I am jealous of how opening you can journal about your faith. I am a person of deep faith and keep it private - great job!!

I absolutely adore the clustering and framing you've done here with your photograph and the 'reflection' of your parents below your photo is so creative, a wonderful idea! Thank you for sharing the personal story of your life; you're a winner in my book.

This is such a visually stunning LO. I had to read the journaling from the credits section, but even before I read it the LO had grabbed me. The reflection of your parents in the water is inspired. The composition, colors and clusters are beautiful. I find it so sad that you don't talk to your dad any more.

This page layout is just beautiful. I love the reflection picture of your parents -- so subtle yet powerful. And your journalling touched my heart. It's not always easy being honest about our feelings, but it can be so healing. Really great job!
